Back To Earth

As beautiful as the stars are, for all they're worth
there comes a time we must return to earth
the place of our origin, the nature of our birth
the place where we've observed beautiful things first

As wide as the cosmos, as vast as space itself
it's earth where we accumulate all our wealth
as wondrous as the planets and their many moons
we only feel pressure from our sun, especially at high noon

We all come from dust and will return one day,
ashes to ashes and dust to dust which is nature's way
but, in the in-between time we all shall play, and, like
the philosopher Epictetus states, "like an hour I must
come and like an our I must pass away".
